What software should your newspaper or magazine be using for ad layout? Are you looking for an ad tracking system? Have you considered moving to a completely paginated publication? Do you need to train your production people on the newest version of QuarkXPress, InDesign, MultiAd Creator, MacOS X, or basic Macintosh operation? These are just some of the areas that we can help you with. Our specialty is small to mid sized newspapers and magazines (our President is an ex-Quark sales rep. and small newspaper owner), as well as advertising agencies. From equipment purchases, to selecting the proper XTensions, Plug-Ins or Additions to do the job for you, tell us your problems and we'll help you come up with a solution and help implement the hardware and software.
Ad Tracking Systems:
Where is the ad in your production workflow? It is done? Has it been proofed by the customer? How many days does it run in the paper? A good ad tracking system will give you these answers and many more. While most ad tracking systems are designed for the larger daily newspapers, a few have been developed for the small to mid-sized papers and magazines. Looking to get control of where your ads are in the system? We can help you.
MultiAd Creator Training:
This incredible publishing program was designed as a newspaper advertising layout program, but is also suited for ad agencies, print shops, magazines and other short document production.
Converting to InDesign:
A lot of publishing companies are making the switch to Adobe's InDesign, but it isn't as simple and buying a few copies of InDesign and getting to work. Staff needs to be trained, custom functionality of QuarkXTensions has to be acquired and documents need to converted.
With QuarkXPress just getting to Mac OS X, many companies are still using version 3.x or 4.x. Some have taken the leap to 5.x or 6.x, but there are a lot of new challenges your staff will be facing. We've trained in classroom settings, in production settings and one-on-one. We've used QuarkXPress since version 1.0 in production and have trained at some of the largest QuarkXPress installations in the country.
Decided to make the switch from QuarkXPress to InDesign? Your staff has a bit of work to do to get comfortable with this exciting and robust application.
Paginating your Newspaper or Magazine:
Everyone's talking about pagination, but the smaller papers think it's not for them because it's to expensive. Even the smallest weekly can benefit from pagination, we know, we did it with our own weekly that had a circulation under 1,000 and averaged 12 tabloid pages a week. Cut hours off your paste up time, while cleaning up the look of your publication. Larger papers can benefit from our knowledge of the systems and contacts with pagination experts from Baseview, Managing Editor, Quark and others. Let us help you weed through the vendors and pick the system that is right for you.
Ad Layout Software:
There are a number of options for Ad Layout available to you. Which is best for your publication? Creator, QuarkXPress, InDesign, Illustrator? We are partial to MultiAd Creator, but the others are great options and might be better for you depending on the rest of your system. Once you've decided which system to use, we can help train your staff to produce ads quickly and efficiently.
Hardware for the Small Newspaper:
Looked through a current computer mail order catalog lately? It's a scary thing to see the different options available to any publishing business. Mac vs. PC, scanner options, mass storage options, networking options, etc., etc., etc. Let us help you make the major decisions by being a non-partial opinion. We don't sell hardware, so we only care that you get what is best for your needs.
